I. The Nature of Truth in the Bible
The Bible presents truth as an absolute, unchanging reality that emanates from God Himself. Unlike the shifting standards of the world, biblical truth is consistent and eternal. Let us delve into some key aspects of this divine truth.
- Truth is Found in God’s Word
The Bible explicitly states that God’s Word is truth. In John 17:17, Jesus prays to the Father, saying, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” This verse highlights that the Scriptures are not merely historical records or moral guidelines but the embodiment of divine truth. Jesus warned us of this reality in John 15:18–19: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.” Despite cultural resistance, we are called to remain steadfast in our commitment to God’s truth, trusting in His sovereignty and grace.

Personal temptations and the deceitfulness of sin can lead us astray from the truth. James 1:14–15 explains, “But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. - Prayer for Discernment
We need God’s wisdom to discern and apply His truth in various situations. James 1:5 encourages us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Regularly praying for discernment helps us navigate complex decisions and stay aligned with God’s will.

Surrounding ourselves with fellow believers provides support and accountability. Hebrews 10:24-25 urges us, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.” Engaging in fellowship and participating in church activities strengthen our commitment to truth and help us grow spiritually.
