Finding Strength After the U.S. Elections: An Inspirational Message for Those Facing Disappointment

Dear friends, as the dust settles from the recent elections, many of you find yourselves grappling with disappointment, frustration, and perhaps even fear about what lies ahead. The candidate you supported, the vision you hoped for, and the work you poured your energy into may not have found favor this time. But let us turn together to Scripture, for it holds words of comfort, strength, and renewal for every season of our lives—even seasons of disappointment.

The words of the psalmist remind us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). Your disappointment is valid, your feelings are real, and God sees them all. Take solace in knowing that the Creator of heaven and earth draws near to you in moments of heartache and offers His unfailing presence. God’s closeness is not contingent on political outcomes; it is a constant that we can hold on to, come what may.

In times of unmet expectations, there is a tendency to despair or withdraw. But consider the Apostle Paul, who experienced numerous hardships and setbacks in his mission. In 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, he declares, “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” Paul’s resilience did not stem from the circumstances around him but from the power and presence of God within him. You, too, are more resilient than you realize because the Spirit of God is with you.

As we move forward, there is an important lesson to hold onto: God’s purposes are not thwarted by any human plan. Proverbs 19:21 tells us, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” While it may be hard to understand why things have unfolded as they have, trust that God’s plans are greater than our own. This moment, though difficult, may be part of a greater journey, a call to deepen your faith, to serve in new ways, or to find common ground with those you once saw as rivals.

Remember, too, that Jesus taught us to love our neighbors, even those with whom we disagree. In the days ahead, seek opportunities to bridge divides, to listen, and to serve others with humility and grace. It is through such acts that hope is restored and communities are healed.

In closing, hold fast to these words from Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” This is not the end of the journey—it is a moment to press on with hope, to rise, and to trust that God is still at work in you and in this nation.

Be encouraged. Stand firm. Hope endures.
