A Call to Holiness: Lessons from Ezekiel 44

Ezekiel 44 offers a profound message about holiness, obedience, and the importance of walking closely with God. In this chapter, God instructs Ezekiel about the duties of the priests and the sacredness of the temple. Through these commands, we are reminded of the call to live set apart for God, reflecting His holiness in our lives.

In Ezekiel 44:23 (NIV), the priests are told:
“They are to teach my people the difference between the holy and the common and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.”

As believers, this call is still relevant today. We are called to be priests in our daily lives, discerning what is holy and what is not. Our relationship with God requires us to live in a way that reflects His purity and love. Just as the priests were set apart to serve in the temple, we too are set apart to honor God with our thoughts, actions, and choices.

This passage teaches us that our hearts are like the temple—a sacred space where God’s Spirit dwells. We must guard our hearts, making sure that what we allow in aligns with God’s holiness. We are reminded to approach life with reverence, seeking God’s guidance in all things.

Let this be an inspiration to draw nearer to God. Just as the priests had the privilege of entering the holy place, we have been given the privilege of a close relationship with God through Jesus Christ. May we live in such a way that reflects the holiness we are called to, walking in obedience and love.
